SJSU students can get quick online help of up to 20 minutes on a first-come, first-served basis from a trained writing tutor by joining the Zoom link.
Our tutors support all types of writing, including research papers, literature reviews, essays, etc. We also help with the different stages of writing, such as drafting and revising, and are here to answer your grammar, content, organization, and formatting questions.
Some examples of quick questions that are ideal for Open Lab include the following:
"Is my thesis statement okay?" (If it's already drafted.)
"I'm not sure how to cite this source in MLA/APA format."
"I need some help with my introduction; I'm not really sure it flows well."
"What's the difference between indirect citations and direct citations?"
"Could you help me make a cover page for my assignment?"
"My professor said I need to fix the passive voice in my paper, but I don't really
know what that is."
"Could you take a quick look at my reference page?"
